One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
The colossal pyramids of Giza, the final of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, are arguably the most well-known and talked-about buildings in history. These enormous structures continue to astound and enchant us with their overwhelming mass and seemingly unattainable perfection. They remained unequaled in height for thousands of years after they were built. Their rigorous orientation and astounding construction sparked a plethora of speculations regarding their origins, including the unsubstantiated claim that they were inspired by extraterrestrials.

Three Pyramids, Three Rulers
The emperors Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure constructed the three main pyramids on the Giza plateau over the course of three generations. Each pyramid belonged to a royal funeral complex that also had a temple at the base and a lengthy stone causeway that connected the plateau to a valley temple on the edge of the floodplain. The causeway was approximately one kilometer in length.

A Reference To The Sun
The pyramid's shape was a tribute to the sun; it may have been meant to represent the sun's beams in crystallized form. The sun's rays are described in texts as a ramp that the pharaoh uses to ascend to the sky; in fact, the first pyramids, like the step pyramid of Djoser at Sakqara, were intended to be staircases. Additionally, there was no doubt about the pyramid's relationship to the holy Ben-Ben Stone, an image of the ancient peak that was thought to be the site of creation itself. The deceased emperor was thought to have found rejuvenation in the pyramid.

Pyramid Societies
Pyramid societies are named by their pyramidal hierarchical systems, which have a wide base and a narrow top. The elite governing classes, which include monarchs, pharaohs, and emperors and who possess great wealth and power, are at the top. The clergy and nobles are beneath them; they have advantages and power because of their tight ties to the rulers. The middle classes are made up of warriors, craftsmen, and merchants who are important to the economy and defense but do not have the same power as those in the higher strata.
